Light In The Shadows (Find You In The Dark #2)

How do you keep going when you feel like your life is over?

Maggie never thought she’d see Clay again. So, she attempts to put her life back together after her heart has been shattered to pieces. Moving on and moving forward, just as Clay wanted her to.

Clay never stopped thinking of Maggie. Even after ripping their lives apart and leaving her behind to get the help he so desperately needed. He is healing…slowly. But his heart still belongs to the girl who tried to save him.

When a sudden tragedy brings Maggie and Clay face to face again, nothing is the same. Yet some things never change. Can the darkness that threatened to consume them be transformed into something else and finally give them what they always wanted? And can two people who fought so hard to be together, finally find their happiness? Or will their demons and fear drive them apart for good?

The thing about love, is even when it destroys you, it has a way of mending what is broken. And in the shadows, you can still see the light.

As soon as I finished Find you in the Dark I could not wait to read Light in the Shadows. I craved to find out what the outcome was for Clay and Maggie, would a fairy Godmother come along and take away all Clay’s problem and they go and live happily ever after?

Of course this would never be an option because Clay’s mental health issues could not be fixed over night, and this made me wonder whether Clay and Maggie would ever reunite.

“I realized my healing would take years.” ~ Clay

“There were good days, like today, when I felt like I could take on the world. Like I could find my way back to Maggie.”

The beauty of this book was it continued straight on from where Find you in the Dark left off, so Clay’s health was a work in progress. Also to know that Maggie was very much still in love with Clay and hoped one day they would find themselves once again in each other’s arms gave me hope.

“I still hung onto the hope that my broken knight would gallop back into my life and sweep me off of my feet.”

I loved the way that the chapters were broken into either Clay’s point of view or Maggie’s. Giving a deep insight to their thoughts and feelings where as Find you in the Dark was from Maggie’s point of view, this time you could really understand more about Clay and what he has to live through with the ‘voices’ and daily struggles of his illnesses. Despite Clay’s problems I couldn’t help but swoon over him, if anything more than the first book as I felt I understood him just that little more.

Then bam! Tragedy strikes and Clay and Maggie are forced to face one another.

“ mind ground to a halt at a sudden realization. He would be coming back.”

To know there was still a strong connection between both Clay and Maggie had me desperately wanting them to ride off into the sunset. I hated the struggles they continued to go through and my heart broke for them both on many an occasion, but it also showed just how strong they were.

Their journey was far from smooth but knowing the love they had for each other always gave me hope that they would find their ‘happy ever after’ or should I say find the light in the shadows together.

“…no matter what happens tomorrow, next week, next year, my heart will always be yours.”

Then came the epilogue, well I had tears by the end of it, there was definitely a happy ending but without the need for the Fairy Godmother and I will not write much here as I do not want to spoil it for anyone who’s about to read an amazing book.

I will close this review by saying that A. Meredith Walters has written another amazing story touching on such heartbreaking issues in a delicate way, and once again has done justice to these amazing characters.

“And he asked her to share his forever.”

I highly recommend both of these books, especially if you are in the mood for an emotional love story that is so beautifully portrayed.

I rate this book 5 Stars all the way
