Jennifer Foor is one extremely talented writer. I’ve read many of her books now and as such am amazed and astounded as to the sheer variety of works she has given us as readers and followers.
Bereft is no exception to this rule. This is like nothing Jenn has written before and doubt she will again, and this is why I will continue to follow and support her as an author.
Bereft is a second chance at a first love kind of story. Grayson and Rachel were comfortable in their lives and blessed in their relationship until Grayson took their marriage and love for granted and ruined it.
This started a spiral of events and emotional moments between our two protagonists. Told from dual POV we saw the heartbreak and numbing techniques Rachel adopted and we understood the remorse and never ending guilt that Grayson then endured.
Who will win Rachel’s everlasting affections? How will their story end? Not everyone gets their happily ever after. Sometimes it’s a happy right now. Sometimes it’s nothing at all.
The epilogue was perfect. Rounded the story out well. And although I’m never a fan of books containing cheating (and this is no secret) I compartmentalised this book as a special read, one I felt had the right ending, as it should have been. Thank you, Jenn for yet another top book which brought me out of my comfort zone and into your world. Your mind. ❤

My wife didn’t want to see me, and who could blame her? I’d fucked up. I’d let a little ass ruin my marriage, and that’s exactly what it was coming to. Rachel was a strong-willed woman. She was set in her ways and liked being in control of the situation. I admired her strength, and the way she was able to manage multiple problems at once. This though, this broke her. I saw it in her desperate eyes. She was broken – lost – destroyed, all because I couldn’t keep my dick in my pants. I saw an opportunity to feel young again and I dove right in, knowing the consequences would bite me in the ass at some point. I made the decision out of greed. I wanted to feel empowered; like I was able to get someone young and attractive. For a little while I felt like the king of the world. I thought I’d get away with it. The more it happened, the harder it was to imagine getting caught.
