My Review:
Wow.
I think this is Samantha’s best work yet. And I loooove the On Dublin Street series. So this is a big statement for me!
Caine Carraway and Alexa Holland have grown up apart yet the same man helped change their lives irrevocably at a young age. Coming together as adults under pure chance, it was down to Caine to keep their association with one another going – not without complaint from Alexa. What happens next is the biggest to and fro of any couple I’ve read about. I won’t ruin anything for you readers but my God, I laughed, I cried, I scowled, I swooned and I damn well got hot and bothered reading this book.
Samantha’s writing is as flawless as it’s ever been and describes Boston and the scenes extremely well. It’s certainly made me want to visit Charles Street and Cambridge.
This story has everything you’d expect from a steamy book. I adored the characters and how they came together and grew as people. Effie is an amazing side character and meddler and I laughed so hard at some of the funnier scenes in the book.
I swear I spent the last 25% of the book in tears but the ending. That affected me the most. Having their story come to an end made me sad. I wanted to carry on reading about Lexie’s smart mouth and Caine’s witty and sarcastic retorts. It’s rare to find an outstanding standalone these days and this one affected me to the core. I’d give 6 stars if I could!
