Our reviews –
There are your regular love stories. Boy meets girl. They fall in love. They get married. The end. Sometimes there’s a twist or a third person in their tale to shake things up a bit but ultimately there is the predictable happily ever after.
Then there are your bona fide, absolutely 100% original stories that have you guessing, speculating and shake you to your core.
Black Lies shook me.
You believe this to be a story with your typical love triangle but the truth is so detached from this premise.
Alessandra Torre has written a masterpiece. The writing style is a true work of art and flows brilliantly. The feelings and emotions her words emulate leave you thinking about this story for days. Leave you shaken and in awe.
You won’t regret reading of Layana and Brant’s love and life together. You can’t even muster feelings of dislike towards Layana, let alone Lee. You can try and guess all you want but until the clues come rolling in thick and fast, you’ll be wrong.
This is the first book I’ve read of Alessandra Torre’s and due to the sheer skill of her writing I will be looking up her other works. Such creativity is rare in a writer and Alessandra has it in abundance, I can’t wait to discover more from her.
Easily a 5 star read for me and more!
Francesca- this book was so amazing, I had never read anything like this. It’s not your usual love triangle and around the 56% mark I could see what was happening. It was very moving and you see the characters in a totally different light after the half way point.
Brant is such a sweetheart and Lee is just your filthy bad boy, and Layana is truly in the middle of these two men. As the story unravels you can see what a special kind of woman Layana is.
I was totally blown away reading this. I have read The Dumont Diaries by Alessandra Torre and that did not disappoint me either. Black Lies is a truly amazing story.
5 stars from me.
When I was asked to review Black Lies, I couldn’t wait. I loved Alessandra Torre’s Dumont Diaries.
What can you say about Black Lies without giving too much away?!!
Well, be prepared for hidden secrets, twist and turns. There are LOVE STORIES, then there are Black Lies, I couldn’t put this book down, was texting fellow Brit Frank, who was also reading at the same time. I was putting my theories out there, only to have them thrown back in my face with laughter.
I’ve honestly never read a book like it, the intensity, emotion and romance is beyond insane.
Alessandra has outdone herself on this book. I’ve never read anything like it. It’s fresh, it’s new, it’s WOW.
Go grab yourself a copy you won’t be disappointed, I don’t read SHITE.
Eeeeeekkkkk I really don’t know where to start with this book!!!
I’m going to be honest I really struggled with this book and I was a little under pressure due to the fact that other 3 Brits devoured it!!! I can’t but my finger on it, it just didn’t click!!! But I kept reading and then BAMN I got to 50% and was hooked!!!! Wow I did not see that coming!!! I thought lots of other things but THAT, nope never saw it until it was in my face!!! Then I was OMG how did I not guess the clues were all there!!!
I’m going to be honest with you, I can’t even put this story into words for the fear of giving away the plot, so all I’m going to say is…
I LIKED Brant,
I LOVED Lee,
I LOVED Brant,
My heart broke for Lee!!!
Layana, WOW one of the best heroines iv had the pleasure of reading and getting to know how she worked and why she did what she did, was pretty amazing!!!!
So yeah go buy this book and get gripped by the author who can really write a powerful book!!!!
It’s a four star for me, purely because it took me half of the book to work out what was going on, I felt because I knew there was a BIG secret I just needed to read it and I know that’s my bad, as I more than likely missed the spell that the author put on the other readers because I was rushing to get to the black lie!!! Because now iv finished, I have sat back and realised iv just read a masterpiece and it’s truly a book like u have never read before!!!
