Book Title: Take Two
Author: Laurelin Paige
Release Date: February 4, 2014
Publisher: Samhain Publishing
Summary: He’s ready for his close up, but she’s the one calling the shots.
On the night of her graduation from film school, straight-laced Maddie Bauers fell completely out of character for an oh-my-god make-out session with a perfect stranger. Complete with the big O.
Seven years later, that romantic interlude is still fresh in her mind. That stranger is now a rich and famous actor. And she’s one very distracted camera assistant working on his latest production. She might consider another tryst…if he even remembers her.
Micah Preston does indeed remember Maddie. Too bad he’s sworn off Hollywood relationships. He allows himself as much sex as he likes—and oh, he does like—but anything more is asking for trouble. For the woman, not for him. Yet knowing Maddie could want more than a movie-set fling doesn’t stop him from pursuing her like a moth drawn to hot stage lights.
But as the shoot nears its end, it’s decision time. Is it time to call, “Cut!” on their affair, or is there enough material for a sequel?
Warning: Contains a dreamy movie star hero, a focus-pulling heroine, off-the-charts instant chemistry, steamy sex in near-public locations, and a new use for lip gloss.
About Laurelin: Laurelin Paige is the NY Times and USA Today Bestselling Author of the Fixed Trilogy. She’s a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Mad Men and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine.

I have a slight confession. I’ve not read any of Laurelin Paige’s books before. I know, I know the Fixed series is a must read – I’ve heard how *mmmhmmm* Hudson is and I have no excuse for it – I’ve just not gotten around to it.
But, when given the opportunity to read and review a first book in a new series by Laurelin, of course I snapped it up!
Take Two is about a film star (Micah) and a behind-the-scenes assistant (Maddie) who crossed paths many moons before but due to circumstances at the time, weren’t meant to be.
Fast forward 7 years and they are working together on the same set. The attraction is clearly still there but something is holding them both back from coming together. Micah doesn’t believe in Hollywood relationships as he’s been burned before and Maddie doesn’t believe in short term; she’s all about the long haul.
After a great deal of angst and turmoil and some slightly annoying inner rants from both parts they get their act together (get it, act!) and you end up with what you wanted from the first chapter after their initial meet up as new on the movie scene….!
This is a sweet, light story to read and is perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon holed up on your sofa with nothing better to be doing. I loved how their fierce attraction to one another shone through like a beacon in the dark and how they fought the pull between them until the invisible elastic just snapped and bound them together in a passionate affair. The steamy scenes were indeed steamy and although you wanted Maddie to be a little more strong-willed I adored her character and personality and her dedication to her lifes goals.
I will still give Hudson and the Fixed series a go as I believe it goes in a different direction to where the Lights, Camera series will take us.
My rating: 4 out of 5 stars ****
