My Review.
As soon as I read the synopsis I knew that I would love this book. Just seeing the words ‘attractive bad boy’ I knew I’d be hooked. After all whats not to like? Its romantic, sexy and sweet as sin.
Sophie and Kyle, two very different people, or at least thats how it appears, who are connected through marriage. He’s the ‘playboy’, and she appears to be the ‘princess’ and don’t they just hate each other?! But looks can be deceiving and shallow waters run deep. For them everything changes that last summer they have together.
“…in that last summer before university we became something more.”
The fundamental thing that never changed between them was love, even if at times they could not admit it or thought it was wrong. Love, such a powerful emotion, and its suppose to be a wonderful experience but boy oh boy can it hurt.
“I’m not a romantic, I’m a realist, and it’s just my luck to be fucking in love with the only girl in the world that I can’t have.” ~ Kyle
You see this pain between Sophie and Kyle many times throughout the story, they hurt, and for me I found that so heartbreaking. I always root for the hero in books (I’m a book boyfriend whore) and at times I found myself so angry at Sophie. I felt she was being unfair to Kyle.
Their situation to some may appear taboo, however to me I didn’t see a problem, I found myself numerous times just wanting to climb into the story and tell them to ‘f**k everyone else’. After all shouldn’t it be about each other not everyone else?
Kyle is a total hottie, he’s popular, sexy as a teenage boy and as a man. He definitely had me pining for him. To be honest Sophie was such a sweetheart most of the time and there were plenty of times in which I felt sorry for Sophie and wanted to give her a hug.
This story was set in England, UK and I really liked that, I could relate to the scenery and characters a little more. They were just two typical teenagers, and then adults, but with a little more wealth than some.
The story flowed beautifully, even though it went between the past and the present it was easy to follow. If you want a romantic and sexy read that won’t leave your heart and head hurting this is the book for you. I can not stress how much I enjoyed this book, its what romance is made of.
5 stars from me on this one.
